Working with Greenwood art students
is a never-ending pleasure.

Hello!
Hello, I'm Dawn Pennie, Greenwood Elementary's art instructor! I
began teaching at Greenwood after graduating from UW - River Falls
in 1992. In 1998 I graduated with a Master's degree from St. Mary's
University of Minnesota (Winona, MN) and have been pursuing continuing
education classes at Hamline University and through the University
of St. Thomas, in St. Paul, MN. My aspiration to teach art was driven
by a desire to build art experiences through working with young
art students.
Each year it is an ongoing challenge to
introduce Greenwood students to the many aspects of art. Each year
my art education continues to grow through GW art students who continually
come up with many ideas, techniques and conclusions creating their
own art. The students of Greenwood are open to trying new approaches
to art, art history and art appreciation that include drawing and
painting - both of which are so vital to art instruction. It is
also very important for students to know that art helps them to
be more comfortable with themselves - from the simple stress-free
enjoyment of creating their own art to the style and color of the
clothes they wear - to the selection of furnishings they will someday
select for their own home. DP
| In our age of multi-dimensional communication,
visual memory and art are required to handle an overload of
information. The English Language and the languages of mathematics
and science are too limiting. |
